Our instructor is Alfredo Avila, M.A.Sc. (nidan aikikai) who is now a student of Michael Moreno Sensei (6th dan aikikai). (Aikikai is the largest aikido organization in the world, under guidance of Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu, grandson of O-Sensei)

After many years of karatedo training (doshinkan), Avila Sensei started aikido under the instruction of Jesus Lopez A. in the city of Querétaro. During that time he also attended to classes at the Mexico Aikikai Hombu (central) dojo under Michael Moreno Sensei. He also had the privilege to be a student of Miguel Moreno Segura Shihan, who introduced the practice of aikido in Mexico more than 27 years ago. Both masters were direct students of Ni dai Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba (son of O-Sensei) and are teachers of most instructors now in Mexico.

Some time later, Alfredo Avila was a student of Stefan Barton Sensei (4th dan aikikai) at Kitchener, On. (Canada) while he was attending graduate school  at UW.  They remain in contact.  This way, the lineage is as follows:



Our instructor has complemented his skills by attending several national and international seminars and special classes. Some of the most representative are:
  • May, 2002: Aikido seminar under direction of Pat Hendricks and Stefan Barton. YMCA Centre. Toronto and Kitchener, ON.
  • Oct 2003: Back in Mexico, International Aikido Seminar under Masatake Fujita Shihan, Miguel Moreno Shihan and Michael Moreno Sensei. Mexico city.
  • Sep 2004: 9th International Aikido Seminar, by the International Aikido Federation. Tokyo, Japan.
  • Oct 2005: Special class at Aikikai Hombu Dojo. Tokyo, Japan.
  • Nov 2005: National Aikido Seminar, under Moreno Shihan, Moreno Sensei, Fon Sensei and Armando Hinojosa Sensei. Mexico City.
  • Oct 2006: Special class by Armando Hinojosa Sensei (5th dan) at our dojo. Querétaro, Qro.
  • Dec. 2006: National aikido seminar, under Moreno Sensei, Fon Sensei, Hinojosa Sensei and Arias Sensei. Mexico City.
  • 2007: Several special classes at Mexico Aikikai Hombu Dojo. Mexico City.




The master-student relationship is important. Our instructor remains a student of Moreno Sensei and frequently visits the Mexico hombu dojo with the students of the Queretaro dojo.
